A new Forge takes shape

This is my blog to chart the progress of my planned Dark Mechanicum army based in the 40K universe created by Games Workshop. It's not my main army as I collect Chaos, firstly Khorne Daemons and my Crimson Slaughter traitor marines, then the Death Guard along with Nurgle Daemons. This will be an occasional catch up on how things are going, along with any ramblings and game reports I have along the way.

First I've got to plan out my army, just vaguely to give me an idea of where I'm trying to get with it. As with any hobby it's not the end product that's the goal it's the journey that matters, although the end product is a finished army to game with.
I want a couple of HQs, troops- at this point just a couple to fill in required slots in the Force Organisation chart, walkers from the new Forge Bane set, some converted bestie types to tie in with my Daemon and Chaos armies.
I don't want all the figures to be too chaotic as then I can use them to ally with Space Marines etc.

First figure, based on a converted Tech Priest Dominus, the idea behind this bloke was he's been corrupted by Nurgle, hence the greenish robes, he commands rotted and rusting machines.

Second thoughts, I've gone off the idea, I'll paint his robes black and he can still be Dark Mechanicum but not dedicated to a specific patron God. The figure is the Tech Priest Dominus cut at 45 degrees across his middle then the top was turned round, he stands much taller and looks quite impressive on the table top.

Choice of colours for the troops? two schemes I've looked at before-

I think I'll go with the black/ dark grey. The bone theme is nice but takes too long to get how I like it to look. I've done the black scheme before, I painted a decent sized contingent then sold it on Ebay, but I liked the overall look of the troops so I'll do it again.
